These past few cloudy days are the universe’s way of giving you rest before the long holiday weekend, because the weather app on my iPhone says that Sunday and Monday will be gorgeous! Here are some ways for you to enjoy the outdoors even if you are staying put in the city this weekend–and what you’re missing if you’re not!

Intrepid Summer Movies Series 2014: Top Gun

When free outdoor movies return to the city, it’s easy to lose that loving’ feeling for winter. The often-quoted Tony Scott-directed film, which stars Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer as a couple of Naval training pilots, is a classic. Tonight, it’s playing on the flight deck of the Intrepid, kicking off the floating museum’s 2014 summer outdoor movie series. Bring bring lawn chairs and your own picnic fixings.
