First: The Theme Description
In honor of one of summer’s most thrilling activities, we’re celebrating moments of grand wave-riding adventure. Though the moments won’t always be about literal surfing, they will be about the brand of boldness required to stand on two feet while there’s nothing but a surfboard under you–and about the tsunami-sized waves you’ve fearlessly (or at least with tamed fear) ridden to the shore.
Second: Inspirations
Walt Disney Treasures – Hawaiian Holiday (1937)
Third: Storyboards
The third surfer which was the fish was animated swimming instead of surfing.
Different Version
The graphic was reversed so it could animate from screen left to screen right. More water was added to fill the negative pace in the foreground. The sun was omitted since more of the negative space was filled with the water. The placement of the text was also animated to give the illusion that the surfer was riding through the letters.
Fourth: Static Graphic
The static graphic was created using Adobe Illustator.
Fifth: Animated Gif
The animation for this gif was created using Adobe After Effects.
